Today marks the 125th Lynn Firefighters Day. Lynn Firefighters Day was adopted by the Lynn City Council following a tragic fire where four Lynn Firefighters died in the line of duty on February 13, 1895 at City Box 41, 53-55 Munroe Street, Hutchinson Hardware.
The following members of Engine Company 3 made the supreme sacrifice:
Captain Henry L. Skinner, Hoseman Thomas E. Murray, Hoseman John F. Donlan and Hoseman Abraham C. Moody.
Captain Skinner was the son of Fireman Daniel C. Skinner who also died in the line of duty in 1888. Hoseman Moody was the son of late Chief Engineer A.C. Moody.
May these heroes continue to Rest in Peace.
